Colourful Rajasthan, the Taj Mahal and the Ganges River
India tours through northern India

There is so much to do in Northern India that you could easily spend several holidays here without ever seeing the same thing twice. During our Northern India tours, you can sleep in a real maharaja’s palace, spot wild tigers in the long grass, watch pilgrims from all walks of life perform ritual bathing in the Ganges, and plod through rolling desert dunes on a dopey camel.

Of course, this is not all. No Northern India tour is complete without a trip to the Taj Mahal and no photograph or postcard can match the feeling of seeing it with your own eyes. However, there are several wonders to see on the way to the Taj Mahal. The ghost city of Fatehpur Sikri, the wildlife-packed wetlands of Bharatpur, and the mystical temples of Galta are all destinations that will leave your head spinning.

Temples, beaches and backwaters

India tours through southern India and the Maldives

Southern India stands in complete contrast to the deserts of Rajasthan and the snowy-peaks of the Himalayas. Here, you can enjoy laid back India tours to tropical palm-fringed beaches, emerald paddy fields and sparkling narrow waterways. However, there is more to a Southern India tour than the landscape. Just like anywhere in India, a dose of fascinating culture is always close at hand. In the south, you’ll find spectacular temples and ancient towns touched by magic. During our Southern India tours, you can fall under the spell of enchanting Hampi, sample sultry backwater life in Kerala, and cycle through the spice hills of the south. Of course, at some point you might want to collapse on a beach, and there are plenty of possibilities for stretching out in the sunshine in India. If you really want to push the boat out, why not try the castaway feeling and visit an island in the Maldives?

Coconut palms and colonial mansions

India tours through Goa

Goa is a tiny, exotic, beach-lined state on the west coast on India that looks out over the Indian ocean. Discovered by peace-loving hippies looking for a third-world paradise, Goa is a legendary beach destination filled with palm trees, golden shores, coconuts, cows and some of the most delicious local food in the world. It is a great place to unwind after an active India tour. We offer a selection of India tours in Goa, so whatever your idea of beach bliss, we'll have something to fit the bill. Choose from deluxe tents on a quiet beach, exclusive beach villas, eco-huts in the far south and laid-back local beach resorts. Of course, you don't have to head to the beach at all. Instead, you could immerse yourself in colonial bygone Goa.

The Golden Temple, Little Tibet and Himalayan homestays

India tours through north-western India

Low lying India may be a land of holy cows, Rajput forts and rainbow saris, but if you head into the foothills of the Himalayas you’ll find a totally different world. Heading north from Rajasthan you’ll first come across Amritsar, the spiritual centre of the Sikh faith. Here, you’ll find the blinding Golden Temple, standing serenely in the waters of the Pool of Nectar.

Then, travelling into the northwestern foothills of the Himalayas you’ll find a land of Tibetan monks, prayer flags and snow-capped mountains. In Dharamsala, the residence of the exiled Dalai Lama, you’ll see red-robed monks chanting mantras (prayers) as they turn brightly coloured prayer wheels.

If you’re looking for an adventurous India tour, you can continue to Ladakh, where you’ll be surrounded by towering white peaks. Twisting higher and higher into the Himalayas, you’ll find yourself amid a deserted moonscape that will make you feel like the only person in the world.

Tea plantations, mountain monasteries and temple treks

India tours through north-eastern India

In the northeast of India, there is a region full of green hills, tea plantations, meadows and fast-flowing rivers meandering through forests. This is the mountain state of Sikkim, nestled between Nepal, Bhutan and Tibet in the heart of the Himalayas. Due to its position, it is a very multicultural area which is home to a large number of Tibetan monks as well as many more with a strong Bhutanese influence. Our North East India tours will take you to Tibetan monasteries perched on top of hills and hidden amongst the pine trees, with spectacular views of some of the highest mountain peaks in the world. Sikkim lies at a lower altitude than Ladakh in the north western hills. As a result, it is greener, more accessible, and an absolute paradise for orchid lovers.
