Goa tours itinerary - Whitewashed church

Portuguese Goa - Colonial Mansion

There is far more to Goa than beaches, hippies, scooters and sunshine. We can bring you the best of traditional Goa in its own way. The colonial history of Goa is displayed in the crumbling cornices of its Portuguese mansions and whitewashed Catholic churches. During this Goa tours itinerary, you'll stay in colonial Portuguese mansion in the tiny town of Nagoa, surrounded by rice paddies and full of romance and faded grandeur. Spend long evenings on the veranda surrounded by tropical vegetation, the scent of spices, and a curtain of coconut palms, and you’ll soon pick up on the special atmosphere of this relaxed state. The calm, easy ambience lives on in the region and, most especially, in these Old Portuguese cities.

You won’t forget this unique accommodation in a hurry. The remarkable mansion is built in colonial Portugese style and each of the lovely rooms has been given a flower-based theme, such as the Lotus room and Jasmine room. The striking Indo-Portuguese decoration and traditional furniture will give you a sense of life as the wealthy inhabitants of old Goa used to know it. The rooms on this Goa tours itinerary all have a private bathroom, air-conditioning and television.

The house is surrounded with colourful tropical gardens filled with birds and the rustle of coconut palms. Take a refreshing dip in the luxurious swimming pool or have lunch in the al fresco restaurant, which serves tasty Turkish cuisine. The mansion runs a daily shuttle bus both to the nearby beach and to the buzz of Calangute, one of Goa’s busiest beach resorts.

The Bardez coast in the north of Goa consists of dozens of pretty bays and isolated coves. The beaches at Calangute and Baga are part of this coastline. Calangute, known as the Queen of Goa, is a 10-minute rickshaw or car ride away, and was the first beach to be discovered by the hippies in the 1960s. Baga Beach is also close to the mansion. In these coastal towns there's plenty to do, as their packed with restaurants, bars, and interesting souvenir stalls.

While you're on this Goa tours itinerary don’t forget to visit the famous Wednesday flea market in Anjuna. To reach this lively market, just hop on one of the traditional fishing boats leaving from Baga Beach to Anjuna.

Don’t forget to visit the beautiful interior of Goa. Here, the tea plantations and the palms trees are intensely emerald - a real visual spectacle.
