How does this website work?

India Travel Plan puts you in charge. You can build your own itinerary using a combination of modules or bite-sized trips. You can choose the modules (short trips) in the order that you would like to do them and we will link them together with transport and accommodation.

You can pick and choose whatever appeals most to you most. India has something for everyone, from trips to the Taj Mahal to desert camel treks, from tiger spotting safaris to wonderful beach breaks, from Keralan spice plantations to homestays in the Himalayas. We've chosen as many small-scale hotels and family guesthouses as possible, in order to give you a true sense of local atmosphere and hospitality.

If you would like some inspiration to get you going, then take a look at our suggested itineraries. Here, we’ve combined a number of modules into a logical order to create longer, more comprehensive trips in India. Alterations to these itineraries are always possible- a day less here, a day longer there, an extra few days on the beach etc. Once again, you're in charge.

How to book:
1) When you have selected the sequence of modules or the suggested itinerary that appeals to you, just submit the details along with any comments via the quote request form or give us a quick call on 01273 718036.

2) We will then send you a Travel Plan - a detailed quotation.

3) When you are completely happy with the Travel Plan, simply book the trip by submitting your details via the booking form.

We've divided our India modules into four regions:

Colourful Rajasthan, the Taj Mahal and the River Ganges - North India
Most travellers fly into Delhi and begin their trip in Northern India. The region of India is crammed with cultural gems - the cities and desert towns of Rajasthan, sacred Varanasi on the banks of the Ganges, the ghost city of Fatehpur Sikri, the erotic sculptures of Khajuraho, and - last but not least - the Taj Mahal. Our starter packs will whisk you away from the airport in Delhi and take you towards the city of Jaipur, a fantastic gateway to the rest of unforgettable Rajasthan. Delhi is also an excellent base for holidays to Nepal. Using our sister site, Nepal Travel Plan, you can combine your trip to India with a visit to Kathmandu, a rhino safari in Chitwan National Park, a flight to Mount Everest, or a trek in the Himalayas.

The Golden Palace, Little Tibet and mountain treksNorth West India
Heading northwest from Delhi, you'll see two new and totally different sides to India. Amritsar, close to the Pakistani border, is the centre of the Sikh religion and home to the magnificent Golden Palace. From here, you can climb up to Dharamsala in the foothills of the Himalayas. This is a peaceful land of devout monks, Tibetan monasteries, prayer flags and snow-capped mountains. If you're chasing thrills, you can take a heart-in-your-mouth road trip into the remote mountain wilderness of Ladakh.

Tea plantations, himalayan homestays and temple treksNorth East India
In a tiny pocket of North Eastern India, there's a mountainous Shangri-La of streams, forests and emerald valleys. The multicultural region of Sikkim nestles between Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh. Here, you'll find Bhutanese and Tibetan monasteries perched high upon hillsides, with tea plantations spread out before them and snowy peaks in the background. Make your way to Darjeeling for a spot of high tea, stay with local families as your hike in the Himalayas, and visit some of the most isolated and spectacular monasteries in the world.

Temples, beaches and backwatersSouth India, Goa and the Maldives
The south of India is sultry and exotic. End your trip on a tropical note with a beach break in Goa, Kerala or even the Maldives. Stretch out in the sand with a fresh cocktail and a good book or laze on a traditional boat in the Keralan backwaters. If you're still hungry for culture, explore the mystic culture of the south with a stay in magical Hampi or take a tour of the incredible temples of Tamil Nadu. If you're feeling active, cycle through spice plantations in Kerala or take some time out to learn meditation in the mountains.
