Independent Goa travel - idyllic beaches

Independent Goa travel

There are two very different sides to Goa, and it's certainly rewarding to experience independent Goa travel. One side of Goa is sultry, with beautiful sandy beaches, spicy food and plenty of exotic sunshine. The other is romantic and nostalgic, packed with palm-lined boulevards, crumbling old colonial mansions and whitewashed Portuguese churches.

Whether you want to explore independent Goa travel with the European history of tropical Goa or just relax on one of its many beaches, we have something that will do the trick. Laze outside your charming beach bunglalow in the north or choose a bamboo hut in the south. Alternatively, go for a classic and comfortable beach resort in the more lively Calangute.

The capital of Goa, Panjim, is a remarkable city of faded European glamour, and full of fascinating historical sights. Alternatively, you can head into the plush interior of Goa, staying in a colonial mansion set amongst coconut palms while you relax and recover from your trip so far.

Exotic beaches of Goa

Goa is the famous friendly Portuguese enclave with palm fringed beaches stretching out as far as the eye can see. We've selected beaches that are both known for their beauty and their peaceful atmosphere, as well as some more lively beaches. You'll spend the night in a bamboo cottage next to both the sea and a lagoon, a quirky beach bungalow in a quiet part of Goa or a small stylish resort close to the lively streets filled with souvenir shops and restaurants and one of Goa's best beaches. You can venture further inland by moped or bike to explore a steamy, tropical countryside of rice paddies, Portuguese churches and rural villages. Click here for more information on this 'Exotic beaches of Goa' modules.

Portugese Goa

This module will give you a little taste of classical Portugal in a truly exotic setting during your independent Goa travel. You can choose to stay at either a grand Portuguese mansion in a peaceful Goan village, or a colonial townhouse in Goa's capital - Panjim. The rural mansion nestles between emerald rice paddies in a remote village close to the lively beaches of Calangute and Baga. The colonial townhouse lies in an old Portuguese district, tucked away between colourful houses and whitewashed churches in a neighbourhood reminiscent of bygone Lisbon.
