Northern India tours - Taj Mahal in northern India

Colourful Rajasthan, Taj Mahal and the Ganges Northern India tours

There are endless treasures in the Northern India, and our modules in the region are listed below. Our starter packs can help to ease you into Indian culture, cutting down on culture shock. They’ll take you to Jaipur after one night in the peaceful countryside near Delhi, bypassing the capital on arrival. Delhi is a very hectic city and it can be pretty overwhelming, so we believe that it is better to save it until the end of your trip. Jaipur is more relaxed and rich in tradition – not to mention textiles and jewellery. This makes it an ideal starting point for your trip. It is also a convenient base for trips to Rajasthan, Agra and Varanasi.

After these adventures, you can climb up into the foothills of the North Western or North Eastern Himalayas. Here, you’ll find vast open spaces, peace-loving monks, tea plantations, palaces of gold and, of course, the snow-capped peaks of the mightiest mountain range on earth. Please see our modules in North East India and North West India for more details.

You can put together your own itinerary using the modules and the quote request form, or simply send us an email. Northern India can also be combined with modules in Goa or with South India and the Maldives or with modules in Nepall. All prices are valid until the end of October 2008. Over the Christmas period and certain public holidays prices may vary.

Jaisalmer camel safari

Duration: 2 days, 1 night
Price: £75 per person - based on 2 people sharing
Departure: Daily from Jaisalmer

If you stand on the battlements of Jaisalmer Fort and gaze out over the wide expanse of the Thar Desert, the sand dunes seem to call to you. However, if you are going to venture into this vast and barren world, you’ll need a suitable form of transport. We offer a mode of transport high above the sands, swaying a little, with bad manners and very bad breath. Yes, that’s right. What other way to set out into a desert than by camel? They may be odd, stubborn, smelly, and easily distracted, but they are also charming and unlike any other animal on earth. This module takes you on a one-night desert adventure by camel. After your tiring camel ride on the first day, the guides will prepare a delicious meal for you and you’ll sleep in a cosy tent. At night, when your camel is chewing happily next to your tent, you'll find yourself appreciating your humpbacked friend. We attempt to avoid the very busy tourist routes and you’ll pass through typical desert villages during the trip.

Duration: 3 days, 2 nights
Price: £247 per person - based on 2 people sharing

The other is a gigantic fort towering over the park and providing a fantastic lookout-point for spotting wildlife. Ranthambore is a classic national park, and officially the second best place in the world to see a wild tiger. Even better, it is easily accessible - only a couple of hours by train from Jaipur. In the park, there are many shooting lodges and hideouts leftover from the heyday of the Maharajas, which give the whole area a sense of majesty. You’ll set out on several safaris during this module and visit the fort at sunset to get a panoramic view of the incredible wildlife at dusk.
