Days 1- 3 Kovalam The waving palms of Kovalam are within easy reach of both Periyar National Park and the Keralan backwaters. It’s a long drive (approx 6 hours) but the beautiful scenery more than makes up for the journey and once you arrive in Kovalam you’ll forget all about your travel fatigue. Kovalam is one of the most popular beach resorts in Kerala and is quite developed so we have picked quieter beaches nearby. There are lots of little restaurants and shops in Kovalam itself, so plenty of choice to try the fresh catch of the day and other local dishes. The resort where you’ll be staying during this Kerala travel break is a couple of beaches further up at Nellikunnu where it’s a little more peaceful. It’s only about 10 minutes by road from Kovalam beach. The resort has a traditional Ayurvedic spa where they offer all kinds of traditional massages and treatments. The teak cottages are tastefully decorated and the beach is just gorgeous. |

You could extend this module and spend the time as you please. Take a dip in the Indian Ocean, chill out on the beach or lie in the shade in your hammock with a good book and soak up the laid-back atmosphere. There are other resorts in the area that also offer Ayurvedic treatments and good local food. If you fancy seeing more of the area you can take an excursion to Kanyakumari, the southernmost tip of India. If you’re interested just let us know and we’ll book it for you. On your last day of Kerala travel you’ll be picked up at the resort and transferred to Trivandrum airport. From here, you can fly on to various cities in India, or head further south for some island idyll in the Maldives with one of our tours to the Maldives from India. If you’d like to spend some more time at the beach that's no problem, we can extend your stay at your request. Just let us know on your quote request form. Or you can choose to fly home from Trivandrum Airport to the UK. |
