One of the Maldive islands

Affordable Paradise

Fancy five days on a tiny, exotic island? In the Maldives, you can stay on a small ring-shaped coral island with all the castaway romance of a tropical paradise but none of the pretentions mass tourism. Palm trees wave gently in the breeze and powdery white sand glints in the sunshine. The resorts all lie in large blue lagoons, ideal for water lovers. The islands are all surrounded by palm fringed, sun-kissed beaches that slope gently into the sea, and so miniature that you can walk around their entire coasts within 10 minutes.

Your accommodation

We have selected a number of wonderful island resorts for our Affordable Paradise module. At each resort, you’ll stay in charming bungalows, where you can step out of your room directly onto the ivory beach for a refreshing dip in the sea.

The attractive rooms will be tastefully furnished and very comfortable, with air-conditioning, en-suite bathrooms and modern facilities. The resort will also have a swimming pool, bar, restaurant and little boutique shops.

The restaurants on the islands are all excellent, and delicious dinners will be served as buffet-style with a huge variety of dishes. There are regular beach buffets and barbeques.

Activities

If you begin to feel a little restless, there is plenty to do here. Only 20 metres from the shore you’ll find the home reef, a real delight for snorkelling fans. One of the most impressive dive sites in the world is just a boat ride away, making this a paradise for diving enthusiasts. There is diving school nearby, where you can get your PADI Open Water Certificate, and there is also a surfing school on hand. And, as if this is not enough, you can water-ski, play table tennis or beach-volleyball, and go night fishing under the starry skies.

Excursions to other islands are also well worth the effort. Your resort will offer various excursions, including island hopping and a daytrip to the main island of Malé.

Of course, you can always just enjoy doing absolutely nothing at all. Lie in a hammock slung between palm trees and sway gently in the breeze while you sip on a tropical cocktail…..
