The city of Panjim is a quirky, romantic combination of modern buildings and ancient mansions. As the capital of Goa, it manages to blend colonial houses and impressive churches in an unusual and uncrowded manner with a lovely beach. The wide boulevards, colourful houses, whitewashed churches and Portuguese street signs give Panjim a distinctly European flavour. Add some banana trees, auto rickshaws, strong sunshine and tropical rain and you have a city that’s more than a little exotic. Sadly, the city is often left out of travel itineraries, bypassed by people heading straight for the beach. Days 1 to 4: Panjim

When you arrive at the airport, you’ll be transferred to your charming colonial townhouse in the picturesque Latin neighbourhood of Fontainhas. You’ll spend the next three nights in this atmospheric house, dating back to 1850 and surrounded by narrow streets.

Your room will be furnished in Portuguese colonial style with its own balcony. Meals and drinks are served to house guests on the veranda of the house.
