Day 1: Bangalore - Mysore(Travel time approx. 3.5 hours)Your Kerala tour package begins in Bangalore. Hopefully, you've already explored Bangalore, as today you’ll set off for Mysore. The trip will take about 3½ hours and along the way you’ll enjoy beautiful views of the tropical landscape and the typical Indian mayhem. Mysore is renowned for its high-quality silk, but incense and sandalwood are also made here, and the air is thick with exotic, musky scents. The rich Maharajas invested heavily in Mysore, commissioning brilliantly ornate palaces and temples. Later today you'll visit the immense palace of Mysore to gaze in awe at the huge silver doors and lavishly decorated rooms of marble and gold. You'll also visit the Chamumdi Hill Temple. The temple is perched on a hilltop at 1062 metres and offers some spectacular views over the city. Tonight you'll on an estate of an elegant little palace (authentic accommodation) with lush green gardens that was once built for the princess of Mysore. Your room in the palace has beautiful high ceilings is stylishly decorated in the original style with colonial furniture. |

Day 2: Mysore - Mudumalai National Park(Travel time approx. 3 hours)After breakfast on day two of your Kerala tour package, you’ll head for Mudumalai National Park, a 3-hour drive from Mysore. The park is home to the largest population of elephants in India and you might also come across deer, monkeys, honey bears, giant squirrels and even tigers. Otters and crocodiles inhabit the Moyar River that runs through the park. Mudumalai Park lies at the foot of the Nilgiris mountain range and borders the Bandipur, Nagarahole and Wayanad reserves. |
Day 3: Mudumalai National Park - Wayanad(Travel time approx. 3 hours)This morning, wake up slowly during a peaceful breakfast in your tropical surroundings and prepare for day three of your Kerala tour package trip. Today you’ll drive across the green tea plantations and palm valleys of the Wayanad hills. Just sit back in your air-conditioned car and enjoy the views of the rolling tropical landscape pass by. All across the tea fields you can see the brightly coloured saris of the tea pickers, and big baskets filled with freshly picked tea leaves waiting to be picked up by the side of the road. You’ll be stopping off at a plantation to see the whole tea production process and even have a go at tea-picking yourself. |

Day 4: Wayanad - Cochin (Kochi)(Travel time approx. 2 hours by car, approx. 4 hours by train)Today it’s roughly a 70km drive from Wayanad down to Calicut where you will take the train down to Cochin the next stop on your Kerala trip. Cochin (the new name is Kochi), is a quaint coastal town with heavy Portuguese and Dutch influences. From 1503 until 1663, Cochin was ruled by the Portuguese, when it was subsequently colonized by the Dutch. Then, in 1814, it swapped into British hands. Cochin is the largest city in Kerala and an important seaport for trade in gold, textiles and fish. Down by the water, you can see the legendary Chinese fishing nets in action – incredible wooden structures that are used to catch fish even to this day. Cochin also used to have a lively trade in spices, and the spice market here is still one of the best in Kerala. In Cochin you’ll be staying in one of our hand-picked charming colonial hotels in the historic Fort Cochin district. The rooms are decorated in a colonial style but with modern facilities. In the evening, why not visit a traditional Keralan Kathakali dance show. Kathakali literally means ‘played story’ and is characterised by very colourful make-up, dancing, dress and music. |
Day 5: CochinAfter breakfast on the last day of your Kerala tour package, your personal driver will be waiting to take you around Cochin. You can visit the Dutch Palace, the Jewish Synagogue in the heart of the Jewish district, and the Saint Francis Church (the oldest European church in India). You can also take a look at the Chinese fishing nets that arrived in Cochin with the Chinese traders many centuries ago. In the afternoon, you’ll leave the hotel to travel on to your next destination. You can explore more of Kerala with the Backwaters and Wildlife tour in Kerala or perhaps take a flight to Chennai to see the temples on our India tour from Mandurai to Chennai. |
