Where to stay in Goa - Beautiful scenery

Exotic Beaches of Goa

Goa is commonly known as the perfect destination for relaxation and with good reason; golden beaches, fringed by swaying palm trees as far as the eye can see, dotted by dozens of stylish resorts. Goa is a small province in South West India that was occupied by the Portuguese for quite some time. Hidden among the tropical coconut palm trees you'll still see authentic churches and Portuguese is still spoken in some places.

Goa has several beaches, each with its own character and atmosphere. In the far north you'll find quiet, unspoiled sandy beaches while the beaches around Calangute have a livelier atmosphere, with restaurants and shops along the shore. In the south you'll find a combination of both. We've selected three small-scale resorts that we believe best reflect the local surroundings. They differ slightly in terms of comfort and style but each has cosy, authentic atmosphere.

If you'd like to start building your India holiday, take a look at our range of bite-sized India tours. Day 1: Arrival in Goa

Your driver will drop you off at your Goa hotel; a small-scale resort located on Calangute Beach which is comfortable and charming. This small boutique resort built in Portuguese style is brand new and set in the middle of a large tropical garden with a lovely pool. It's a peaceful sanctuary in the lively Calangute, and we enjoyed being able to escape the hustle and bustle and relax back at the quiet resort with a good book and a cool drink.

The rooms are tastefully decorated with four-poster beds and colonial furniture, there's air-conditioning and a balcony overlooking the lush gardens or the pool. From the resort it's less than 10 minutes walk to the nearest beach, one of the prettiest in Goa and great for all kinds of water sports.

Day 2 & 3: Free Time

During your India trip to Goa, you'll find that the water is warm, the air sultry, and the palms rustle gently in the breeze. But aside from relaxing, there’s lots to do here, you can go on a boat trip with one of the local fishermen to go dolphin spotting, or visit one of the other nearby beaches.

The famous flea market in Anjuna (Wednesday days and Saturday nights) is a great place for souvenir shopping, or if you're not here on a Wednesday or Saturday then you can try the local market in Apora, 4km south of Anjuna. In both markets you can find colourful bags, trinkets, jewellery and unique items to take home to remind you always of your India trip.

Of course, doing nothing is fine too. You could simply stretch out on the beach with a cold Kingfisher and a good book.

Day 4: Departure from Goa

This India package ends after breakfast this morning, and when the time comes, you'll head onwards to your next destination.

Of course, you are welcome to extend your stay on the beach by a few days, or even continue your trip with a few more of our India tours. Just ask our India travel specialists for more information or add any special requirements to the quote request form.

A Peek at Our Bamboo Cottage by the Lagoon

Along one of the quiet beaches of Goa, set in the middle of an emerald green lagoon, lies this low-key bamboo resort, our favourite spot in the area. You'll be staying in a modest, but stylishly decorated bamboo cottage overlooking a small stream that flows right through the resort. Beneath the shady palm trees you can lie back in your hammock and dream away as you listen to the soothing rush of the ocean. The bamboo cottages are basic, but they have comfortable beds and a proper bathroom with a shower and a toilet. The cool stream is an excellent place to go for a swim and the golden sandy beaches are steps away from your cottage door.

A Peek at Our Bohemian Beach Retreat

Around Ashwem in the northern tip of Goa, is where you'll find the picture-postcard tropical beaches. Endless beaches of soft golden sand, swaying palm trees and a wonderful laid-back atmosphere. The dome-shaped bungalows are spread out in a shady palm grove where the soft sand tickles your toes. Attached to the bungalow is a modern bathroom with a luxury rain shower with hot and cold water. The mosquito netting covering your bed like a canopy and the exotic purple tones of the room really add to romantic atmosphere. Start your day with a yoga lesson at the resort. Not necessarily spiritual, but very relaxing. A wonderful place to stay in Goa and spend a couple of days relaxing at the end of your India trip before boarding the plane back home.
